The 2024 Women in Management and Leadership, WIMLEAD Conference, held on July 23rd and 24th at NECA House Building, Alausa Ikeja, was a resounding success, bringing together leaders and innovators to discuss the pivotal role of technology in career advancement for women. One of the highlights of the event was the insightful presentation by Melanie Ayoola, the Group Executive Director of Tranter IT.
Her talk, titled “Leveraging Technology for Career Advancement for Women,“ offered valuable perspectives on how technology can be a transformative tool for personal and professional growth.
Melanie Ayoola’s presentation emphasized the undeniable impact of technology on various aspects of business and career development. She highlighted how embracing technology can lead to significant improvements in business operations, manpower retention, investor engagement, and overall business credibility. She stated, “Your personal brand and company brand are assets that need to be managed. Keeping up with technology allows you to communicate with others efficiently in the workplace and within your network, attracting opportunities to you, increasing your value and perceived value.”
A central theme of her presentation which earned her an award was the concept of achieving “from zero to online hero” results by leveraging technology. This approach involves using digital tools and platforms to build a strong personal and professional brand, effectively positioning oneself in a competitive market. She encouraged attendees to embrace technology in all possible aspects, reinforcing that the path to success lies in continuous adaptation and innovation.
She highlighted how her organization, Tranter IT, for two decades has been dedicated to helping businesses enhance their operations through IT automation, IT support services, recruitment, and manpower management. Tranter IT has achieved over 90% SLA with many prestigious organizations across all industry sectors, including mining, oil and gas, insurance, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, and banking. These successes have been made possible through the integration of technology and leveraging it for business success.
Melanie Ayoola introduced a powerful mantra for management leaders: “Automate, Enhance and Shine.” This phrase encapsulates the need for leaders to integrate automation in their processes, enhance their skills and operations, and shine by showcasing their capabilities and achievements. The mantra serves as a guide for leaders to harness technology effectively and position themselves and their organizations for success.
During an interview at the conference, Melanie Ayoola elaborated on how technology can address contemporary challenges, including networking, skill acquisition, economic disparities, unequal access to opportunities, and even emigration issues. She asserted that “in the present day, the answer to most challenges is online. Make sure you make the most of it” Her advice to the audience was to be inspired daily by what matters most to them, emphasizing the importance of personal motivation in navigating technological landscapes.
The conference was graced by several notable figures, including Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana V. N. Atako, FNIM, NPoM, President and Chairman of Council, and the representatives of the Wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo Olu, and the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat. Other esteemed attendees included Mrs. Amala Bifom, Director of Human Resources at TGI GROUP, alongside numerous management executives and industry leaders. Their presence underscored the importance of the conference’s theme and the relevance of Miss Ayoola’s message to a wide audience.
